Art Deco-style Bronze Sculpture, Egyptian Dancer, 58 Cm
A beautiful bronze sculpture with a brown patina depicting a young dancer of Egyptian inspiration, in the Art Deco style.
The figure is depicted standing, leaning slightly against an architectural element adorned with Egyptian-style decoration. She wears a short hairstyle with a headband, a stylized top, and a draped skirt with pleated detailing. An Egyptian-style female head also appears on the side of the pedestal, reinforcing the composition’s Orientalist and Egyptomaniac character.
The piece rests on a circular, stepped base made of black marble. The base bears a round foundry mark, partially legible: “Bronze Garanti Paris / J.B. Déposée”.
A decorative work from the 20th century, in the style of Art Deco bronzes and the Egyptomania of the 1920s and 1930s. No clearly legible artist’s name has been identified; we therefore cautiously present this piece as an Art Deco-style sculpture, rather than as a work attributed to a specific sculptor.
Beautiful decorative effect, striking presence, and a highly sought-after subject for collectors of Art Deco bronzes, Orientalist sculptures, and Egyptian-inspired objects.
