18th-century-style Men's Wig, Horsehair, Curls, Ponytail, Dandy Outfit
Antique men's wig, reflecting the hairstyles in vogue during the second half of the 18th century, during the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI.
The hairstyle features elaborate curls arranged across the forehead and sides, while the hair is smoothed back and gathered into a long braided ponytail held in place by a wide black ribbon.
The wig retains its original inner frame, with its various sewn-in reinforcement strips.
An interior label bears the inscription “Clarkson, Maker, 45 Wellington Street,”
This wig attests to the persistence of hairstyles from the Ancien Régime, particularly in historical and theatrical reenactments.
