Gaston Bogaert (1918–2008) – Fantastic Composition With Two Figures – Oil On Panel

Gaston BOGAERT (1918–2008) A beautiful and enigmatic composition by Gaston Bogaert depicting an old house, with two figures dressed in black and wearing top hats standing before it. The façade with its weathered plaster, the veranda, the austere architecture, and the silent presence of the two figures create the strange, poetic, and slightly unsettling atmosphere characteristic of the artist's world. Oil on panel. Signed in blue at the bottom right: Gaston Bogaert. The back of the panel is countersigned "Bogaert" and bears various old markings as well as the dimensions (41 × 33 cm). Presented in its original frame. Panel dimensions: 33 × 41 cm; dimensions with frame: 52 × 60 cm. Good overall condition. Please see the numerous detailed photographs. Gaston Bogaert (born in Le Mans in 1918, died in Etterbeek in 2008) initially trained in architecture and worked as a commercial artist before dedicating himself fully to painting from the 1960s onwards. His work creates a personal universe of silent architecture, imaginary landscapes, and enigmatic presences, blending elements of the fantastic, Symbolism, and Surrealism.
