Antique Japanese Porcelain Geisha Figure With Fan, Meiji Period

A charming Japanese porcelain figure of a seated geisha holding an open fan, dating to the Meiji period.

Her finely painted face is framed by an elaborate black coiffure adorned with a floral ornament. She wears a pink kimono decorated with colourful birds and scrolling floral motifs, beneath a flowing black outer robe embellished with patterned roundels. A blue sash, green borders and rich gilt highlights complete the vibrant decoration.

The carefully modelled folds of her robes and graceful seated pose give this small figure considerable character.

Height – 15 cm.
Period – Meiji (1868–1912).
Condition – Good condition.
