Georges Frederic (1900–1981).
Georges Fredericis the son of the painter Léon Frederic (1846–1940). Trained in painting by hisfather, he took a few lessons from PrivatLivemont (1861–1936) and then, from 1919 to 1924, at the Academy of Fine Arts inBrussels in the studio of Herman Richir (1866–1942) and Jean Delville(1867–1953). Drawn to plein air painting, his talent emerged early on,particularly in the seascapes and harbor views he created during hisnumerous stays on the North Sea and in the Scheldt estuary, nearAntwerp. Beginning in 1931, he exhibited regularly at theshows of the Société des Peintres de laMer.
In 1955, he became a member of the Royal Academy of Marine Artof Belgium.
In 2000, on the occasion of the centennial of hisbirth and the sixtieth anniversary of his father’s death, a dualretrospective of their works was organized by the municipality of Schaerbeek at City Halland the Maison des Arts.
