Royal Dux – Large Amphora With Dragons And Putti – Model No. 5333 – Bohemia, Early 20th Century
Royal Dux – Large amphora with dragons and putti – Model No. 5333 – Bohemia, early 20th century
An imposing and highly decorative polychrome porcelain amphora from the Royal Dux Bohemia factory, Model No. 5333, created around 1910 and likely designed by Eduard Eichler.
With a slender, ovoid shape, it features an elegant decoration in shades of ivory, olive green, and gold. The body is adorned with floral motifs in slight relief, while two spectacular stylized dragons form the handles on either side of the neck.
The pedestal is particularly remarkable: it is animated by putti in relief, arranged around a central medallion, lending the piece the rich decorative style characteristic of early 20th-century Royal Dux productions.
The piece bears the famous pink triangular “Royal Dux Bohemia” mark on the base, as well as the model number 5333 engraved in the recessed area.
An identical model is documented in European collections and auctions under this same number.
