An important Franche-Comté fireplace plaque bearing the crowned coat of arms of France, dated 1786, inscribed with “MADAME DE LONCHE(A)ND,” who commissioned the plaque for her grand residence in Gleizé in the Beaujolais region.
Madame de Lonchand was born in 1754 in Saint-Claude and was listed in the 1812 census in the Jura.
Léon de Lonchand was listed as a property owner in Gleizé, according to the Reports and Deliberations of the Rhône General Council from 1854–55.
