Louis XIV-style Portor Marble Fireplace
Portor marble fireplace (Gulf of La Spezia, Gulf of Genoa, Italy), Louis XIV style, carved in the 19th century, in perfect condition. Known as a “cord-style” mantelpiece, the arch of its lintel features two shaped panels at its ends, and a generous, framed torus accentuates the perimeter of its hearth.
Its hammered brass firebox insert, complete with its closing curtain, is original, as is its hearth slab made of fine black Belgian marble and gray Sainte Anne marble.
Its footprint, including the hearth slab, measures 140 cm by 68 cm.
The length of the body is 139 cm.
The hearth measures 67 cm wide and 63 cm high.
