"Life-size Bronze Sculpture "the Bacchanalia" After Clodion"
Important life-size bronze group, "The Bacchanalia," in the style of Clodion, in perfect original condition. Two draped bacchantes raise a cherub brandishing torches; another, at their feet, depicted as a little girl, offers a bouquet of roses and a bunch of grapes. Garlands and wreaths of flowers, bunches of grapes, and roses evoke the attributes of Bacchus, such as the thyrsus held by one of them. The base, measuring 80 x 70 cm, is scattered with flower buds. This sculpture is presented on an octagonal hard stone plinth from Villebois (Ain), dating from the 19th century, 32 cm high and with a cross-section of 98 x 98 cm.
