According To G. Volpato, Four Engravings, Italy, Veneto, 18th Century
Artist: Giovanni Volpato (1735-1803)
By Giovanni Volpato (1735–1803) and the Remondini printing house, based in Bassano.
Collection of four color-enhanced engravings depicting scenes from the life of Joseph based on the Book of Genesis: Joseph emerges from the cistern; the silver cup is found in Benjamin’s sack; Joseph flees from Potiphar’s wife’s advances; and Joseph’s brothers seek grain in Egypt (with freckles).
Giovanni Volpato was one of the most famous Italian engravers of his time: he engraved this series on the Story of Joseph during his youth (1765–1768).
