Some flaws.
Maritime view with ships, below which appears the following caption: "Maritime view done in pen and ink / It depicts the following ships: A. The ship S. Pablo under the command of Brigadier Marquis de Spinola; B. The polacca Digent commanded by His Excellency Prince Pio; C. The 10-gun brig S. José / commanded by Lieutenant Commander Antonio Torres and the aforementioned 8-gun polacca. The brig faces forward to rescue the ship D, which is a French **** that, having lost its masts in a storm, was sailing adrift towards the coast between Co de Palos and Isla Grosa. / On the three Spanish warships, the ensign and director of this Nautical Academy, José Ruiz de Ruiz, sailed, and in his memory, he made this drawing as a second attempt at illumination. / Tarragona, year 1838." Thanks to a document from the Tarragona Diocesan Museum, we know that José Ruiz Ruiz was a professor at the Nautical Academy and a frigate ensign in the Royal Navy Pilot Corps. -
