Russia, Boxed Mineralogical Collection, First Half Of The 20th Century.

Cardboard box (approx. 32 × 25 × 4 cm) containing a substantial set of 50 mineral and rock samples, sized and individually arranged on cotton bedding.
The specimens are numbered to correspond with an original list printed in Russian (kept inside the lid); I have obtained a French translation of this list.
The set serves as an interesting educational example of Russian mineralogical study.
Comparable Russian boxes featuring dozens of samples arranged in compartments are well-documented, and this tradition of mineral collections has continued in Russia.
A fine historical and documentary collection; all numbered samples appear to be present.
Condition: Good "as-found" condition, showing little handling; the collector has noted "Urals" in pencil.
Shows wear and discoloration typical of an object nearly a century old.
