Pair Of Parfume Bottles, Paris Porcelain, Circa 1830

A beautiful pair of hexagonal perfume bottles, made of glazed Parisian porcelain, with their original stoppers featuring wide circular tops. Slightly different in size, they form a harmonious pair.

Each bottle is hand-decorated with a rich polychrome design accented with gold. The shoulders are covered with an orange-ochre background dotted with small gilded four-lobed flowers. The main panels, set against a white background, feature a neo-Gothic-inspired arcature outlined in cobalt blue, framing a diamond-shaped medallion with a blue and gold latticework set with raised gold pearls, above a frieze of blue and gold arcatures. The side panels are rendered in magenta pink (Pompadour pink) with gold fillets and floral motifs. The white collars are edged in gold. The tops of the stoppers, made of white porcelain, are decorated with a blue checkered medallion surrounded by golden scrollwork and small flowers.

A design typical of Parisian production from the 1850s to the 1870s, in the Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles then in vogue (manufactured by Jacob Petit, Baranger, or Gosse; attribution uncertain).
