Solid Silver Armored Cutlery Set, Louis Philippe Period
Solid silver cutlery set with a scalloped design and double fillets, consisting of 18 large forks (length: 20.9 cm), 18 large spoons (length: 21.3 cm), 18 dessert forks (length: 18.1 cm), and 18 dessert spoons (length: 18.6 cm). All pieces bear the 950-thousandth hallmark featuring the head of Minerva, as well as the master silversmith’s mark “P Q” for Pierre François Queillé (1834–1846). All pieces also feature, on the blade, a chiseled coat of arms in the form of a shield surmounted by a helmet and leaf-motif volutes. This exquisite set is presented in its original compartmentalized case lined with red-dyed leather. The outer case is covered in black coated canvas, with a brass clasp and handle monogrammed “RJ.” This case opens and closes perfectly.
