Mount Fuji design on a red backgroundDiameters: 9.5 and 9 cm.These objects were used at grand banquets, particularly during journeys, when it was customary to use the cup adorned with the landscape in which the Shogun was traveling. They were given as diplomatic gifts among the daimyos. Meiji-period Japan, circa 1860–80. Price: €250 per cup.
