Hibachi, Edo period, 17th century. Large model depicting the famous Mount Fuji. Hiramaki-e and usu-niku takamaki-e, Raden on a beautiful wooden background. Gold lacquer signature. Old inscription: "Purchased in Kyoto, the first year of Bunkyū (Year of the Rooster, younger brother of Fire) on an auspicious day in the month of Chrysanthemums (9th month) (i.e., October 1861) from Naosuke So-and-so for the sum of 1 Ryō." Signed 青々光琳 Seisei Kōrin. Rimpa. Attributed to Ogata Korin (1658-1716). Diameter: 38 cm. Notable provenance: Huc Collection (one of the earliest collections).
