Netsuke by Tametaka. Lovely carved wooden model representing a rooster perched and lying on a drum, looking backwards. Signed under the base. Beautifully sized model. diameter: 4 cm. Japan Edo -1603-1868) 19th century. The rooster on the drum is a symbol of peace. Indeed, the drums used to call the troops at war no longer had any use during periods of calm, and found themselves occupied by animals, including roosters.
