Eugène Forel (1858–1938) was a painter and watercolorist born in Talence who contributed to the Gironde painters’ circles and to the development of landscape painting in the Bordeaux area. He was the founding president of the Société des artistes girondins alongside Jean Drouyn and helped establish “L’Atelier,” a community of painters that regularly organized exhibitions. He was also an art critic under the pseudonym Pierre Morisse and wrote, notably, for *La liberté du Sud-Ouest*. His work depicts the city of Bordeaux and the landscapes of the Gironde, the Basque Country, and the Pyrenees. He was one of the artists who played a major role in the development of landscape painting in southwestern France in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
