Polished bovine horn gourd, or "chifle," made of guampa and silver—a traditional South American vessel for drinking cold mate,
with a silver mouthpiece, neck, band, and stopper engraved and decorated with garland motifs.
Silver marked “Plata Arana”: “Plata” means silver in Spanish. The inscription “Plata Arana” is a South American silversmith’s hallmark (very often associated with silverware from Paraguay or the Río de la Plata region) dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century
