Large English Planter By Henry Burgess, Genoa Model
A large oval planter made of fine polychrome earthenware, adorned with a rich floral design.
The ends are decorated with cobalt-blue glazed lion heads holding movable rings of gilded metal. The planter is set in an elegant gilded brass frame, featuring arches, finely crafted foliage, and ball-shaped feet.
A mark is stamped on the underside of the base, depicting the royal coat of arms and bearing the inscriptions “H.B.” and “GENOA .” Produced by the English manufacturer Henry Burgess in Burslem, active between 1864 and 1892.
