The handle is crafted entirely in the round, fully three-dimensional. The modeling is powerful, dense, and deeply incised. The mass of the metal, the sharply defined relief, and the richness of the jewel-like decoration reflect a level of craftsmanship reserved for the kriss of chiefs, princes, or high-ranking dignitaries.

The figure depicted is a hieratic anthropomorphic entity, with a fixed gaze and an expression of authority.
