Hst Man In A Green Frock Coat 18th Century

A beautiful portrait of a man from the late 18th or early 19th century, in an oval format.
He is wearing a white shirt with a finely pleated ruff, a matching vest, and a green frock coat with large buttons, in the fashion of his time.
His white hair is loose and free of any wig.
He looks us in the eyes with his angular yet noble face, his lips curving into a faint smile.
This oil on canvas was mounted onto a sturdy cardboard backing in the late 19th century, and a wooden panel was cut to prevent the cardboard from warping and to provide additional rigidity, while preserving the integrity of the work.
The wooden panel is not glued to the cardboard.
An inscription on the back provides some information about the origin and history of this painting.
The painting has been cleaned and re-varnished by our restorer.
