A superb set ofsolid silver condiment pieces, consisting of four salt cellars and a lidded candy dish,dating from the Consulate–First Empire period.
The four oval-shapedsalt cellars, resting on a stepped pedestal, feature an elegantflared bowl with a rim accented by a fine beaded frieze. The side handles,particularly refined, consist of coiled shafts toppedby stylized eagle heads, a motif characteristic of the imperialdecorative repertoire.
The square, stepped bases rest on four ball-shaped feet,giving the set a beautiful sense of grandeur despite the miniature natureof the pieces. The interiors are entirely gilded.
The lidded candy dish, ofthe same design, features the same eagle-head handles and rests on a pedestal with asquare base and ball feet. Its slightly domed lid is edged with abeaded frieze and topped with a particularlydecorative finial in the shape of a pine cone and palmette.

Hallmarks: fineness mark with the 1st Rooster, 1st Paris fineness standard (1798–1809), hallmarks ofguarantee, and François Froment’s master silversmith’s mark. The 1st Roostercorresponds to the first silver fineness standard, i.e., 950/1000.
