Gustave Odiot, 19th-century Solid Silver Footed Cup
The body rests on acurved stem, adorned with relief motifs, which flares out onto a pedestal with aquadrilobed base. This richly carved base combines successive moldingswith a profusion of foliage, stylized leaves, and symmetrical scrollwork. The whole rests on delicately curved feet, whichenhance the architectural elegance of the composition.
The chiseling constitutesone of the major attractions of this piece. Exhibiting great finesse, it displays alush ornamental repertoire of volutes, leaf-adorned scrolls, andbotanical motifs.
