The rug takes the form of a large checkerboard composed of multicolored squares, each featuring a different color, shade, or contrast. At the heart of this highly graphic composition are numerous black letters, scattered throughout the various squares and forming fragments of words such as “AMOUR,” “ESPOIR,” “CŒUR,” “REGARD”, thus transforming the rug into a true visual poem.
