Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for Toulemonde Bochart – Edition With VOYOU,
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac transforms a word charged with imagination into a poetic manifesto. The designer harnesses the popular and emotional power of this term to deliver a tender and offbeat interpretation. On this rug, a silhouette in sketched black lines, dressed in the essential sailor's jersey, embraces a large, flamboyant red heart. The graphic purity, the bright blocks of color, and the energy of the design evoke the designer's iconic pop world. Both mischievous and amorous, this rogue seems to steal hearts rather than upset them.
The definition tufted at the bottom of the rug, taken from the dictionary, highlights Castelbajac's signature twist: sublimating slang, restoring nobility to an everyday word, to create an accessible, joyful, and humane work of design.
Published by Toulemonde Bochart, VOYOU perfectly illustrates the encounter between art, language, and decoration. More than a rug, it's a statement of spirit and style: impertinent, tender, and profoundly Parisian.
Acrylic wool, tufted rug
Size : 200 x 140 cm
Condition : Good overall condition. There is a slight deformation of the wool on the upper left side, due to hanging it on the wall with clips. A few discreet black marks are present on the white background, including a more pronounced one on the character's cheek. These stains remain subtle to the naked eye and are more visible in the photos and video.
