A remarkable French Louis-Philippe-era cabinet, crafted from walnut and featuring exquisite, carefully selected burl and figure-walnut veneers.

Its front is distinguished by two large, flat doors without molding—a particularly understated choice for the period. This clean-lined design lends it a surprising modernity and allows this 19th-century cabinet to blend seamlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors.

The choice of woods, the quality of the joinery, and the precision of the construction attest to the great craftsmanship of the cabinetmaker who created it.

The cabinet rests on skid-style legs and retains its original hardware. Its lock is particularly noteworthy: it is a three-point locking system, designed to effectively secure the large doors and minimize warping over time.

Fully disassemblable, like the high-quality large French wardrobes of this period, it can be transported and installed more easily despite its substantial dimensions.

The interior currently features four shelves. With its generous interior depth, the layout can also be adapted to convert the cabinet into a wardrobe.

The cabinet has retained a beautiful antique patina. It has not undergone any major restoration and has simply been cleaned and maintained in a manner respectful of its original condition. It has a waxed finish.

Provenance

This cabinet comes from the Loire Valley in France, where it has remained in the same family for several generations.

According to the family history passed down to us, its previous owner had received it from her grandmother.

The old inscription visible on the back indicates that this cabinet was made in 1859.

This family provenance, combined with its remarkable state of preservation, allows us today to present a cabinet that has retained much of its original character.
