Louis-philippe Burr Walnut Chest Of Drawers Mid-19th Century
Louis-Philippe Burr Walnut Chest of Drawers
Mid-19th century period - Loire Valley
Elegant French Louis-Philippe period chest of drawers, made in the mid-19th century from sumptuous burr walnut with deep, spectacular veins. This authentic piece opens with four drawers, including a remarkable secret doucine drawer discreetly integrated into the upper belt, a refined detail characteristic of high-quality furniture of this period.
The front features superb walnut burl veneer work, highlighted by delicately rounded corners and a sober, majestic silhouette typical of the Louis-Philippe style. The drawers are dovetailed and retain their elegant, finely chased brass escutcheons. A single key opens and locks the drawers.
The piece rests on turned legs and is topped with a magnificent top of black Sainte-Anne marble, enriched with prehistoric fossils naturally inlaid in the stone, bringing an exceptional mineral presence to the whole.
Made in the Loire Valley, this chest of drawers comes from a château where it once adorned the master's bedroom. Handed down from generation to generation with the greatest care, it has undergone no restoration: only a respectful cleaning of its original patina. Its remarkable state of preservation testifies to the care that has been taken over the years.
Now ready for use, this chest of drawers will sublimate both a classic interior and a contemporary decor in search of authenticity and character.
