Gio Ponti, Model 699 (known As The “superleggera”), A Pair Of Chairs In Stained Ash With Woven Cane Seats
Pair of Model 699 “Superleggera” chairs, designed by Gio Ponti (1891–1979) for Cassina (unsigned) in 1957. The model is characterized by a very slender ash frame, triangular-section legs, and a woven seat. Cassina specifies that the original version features a solid ash frame combined with a seat made of Indian rattan.
The two pieces shown here are made of dark brown-stained ash, with seats woven from natural fibers.
