Pair Of Carved And Gilded Wooden Frames, Louis XVI Period
A pair of molded and gilded wooden frames, rectangular with an oval front. They feature carved decoration composed of beaded friezes, fluting, and foliate motifs in the corners. The frame is assembled with mitered joints and a solid wood structure. The gilding, applied over primer, shows an antique patina with visible wear, chips, and repairs, revealing the wood in places. The profiles are marked by several layers of molding, consistent with late 18th-century production. The reverses retain their original mounting with a cardboard backing and hanging system. The frames show signs of wear, including cracks and small losses, but without major structural damage. Dimensions per frame: Width: 33.5 cm Height: 40 cm Condition: Antique condition, with wear to the gilding and small losses.
