Giltwood Frame, Sicily, Late 18th/early 19th Century
Large gilded wood frame from Sicily, dating from the late 18th/early 19th century, made using the silver and mixed technique. It features a half-reed line with an internal edge entirely decorated in low relief with small acanthus leaves, and an external edge also in low relief, also featuring larger acanthus leaf motifs. The frame is entirely original, as is its gilding. As shown in the photos, it has never been restored and has some small flaws, which are obvious given its age, but do not require major restoration work, which we can perform upon request in our restoration workshop.
