Red-stained Horn Cartel, Transition Period
Artist: Dechamp à Toulouse
A beautiful violin-shaped red-stained horn wall cartel with its console, richly ornamented with chiseled and gilded bronze featuring scrolls, consoles, ribbon bows, small flowers, shells, acanthus leaves, rocaille motifs, branches, etc., resting on four small arched feet (cracks and wear, minor restoration).
Bronze dial inlaid with enameled cartels, signed “Dechamp à Toulouse,” displaying the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. Complication movement striking the hours, quarters, and half-hours (suspension modified, not yet serviced).
Transition period between the Louis XV and Louis XVI eras.
