"Louis XV Period Wall Clock And Console, 18th Century"
A rare Louis XV period wall clock and console. It is adorned with gilt reserves on a black patent leather background with Asian-inspired motifs, very fashionable at the time. Beautiful original gilt bronze mounts, chased in the rocaille style. The circular dial is enameled with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. It is signed CAUSARD Hgr du ROY, followed by LACOUR. Edme Jean Causard was clockmaker to the King around 1753. The case is stamped A. GOSSELIN, received as master in 1752. It is in working order and retains its two keys. Mid-18th century. Total height: 1.23 m
