"bonheur-du-jour" Napoleon III In Brass Marquetry

We are pleased to present this very elegant Napoleon III-era “bonheur-du-jour”, a particularly refined small lady’s desk, fully restored in our workshops.

Exhibiting fine craftsmanship, it stands out for its rich brass marquetry, accented by trim and frames that highlight the warmth of the veneer and the piece’s architectural design.

Its originality also lies in the numerous mechanisms and features it conceals. Notably, the desk features a central locking mechanism, several drawers—some of which are hidden—as well as a pen holder, all details that attest to the ingenuity and refinement of furniture from this period.

The upper section opens to reveal a work surface upholstered in beautiful leather, giving this piece true functionality while preserving its decorative elegance.

The piece is topped with its marble, which has also been carefully restored. The entire piece is complete and in excellent condition, following a full restoration carried out in our workshops.

With its elegant lines, gilded bronze hardware, brass marquetry, and many hidden compartments, this “bonheur-du-jour” is a particularly charming piece, as decorative as it is functional.

A charming example of Napoleon III furniture, ideal for a classic interior, a library, or an office, but also very easy to incorporate into a contemporary decor where its refinement will truly shine.
