Capuletti José Manuel Gouache
Artist: Capuletti José Manuel 1925/1978
Gouache by Capuletti. A leading Spanish painter of the Surrealist movement. His artistic world is often compared to that of Dalí or Magritte. His art revolves around two major themes: his wife Pilar (see our gouache) and the world of entertainment.
He moved to Paris around 1950 and was represented in New York by major galleries, where he enjoyed great success.
Capuletti offers a contemplative and poetic take on Surrealism.
The American novelist Ayn Rand considered him “her favorite painter of all time.”
The gouache on dark beige heavy cardstock is in good condition. There is a small restoration to the cardstock at a corner on the right below the signature, and reinforcements on the back.
