Fixed Under Glass By Suzanne Bartolini
Artist: Suzanne Bartolini
Reverse glass painting by Suzanne Bartolini. A 20th-century artist, born in 1930, she studied at the École des Arts Appliqués and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. A passionate gardener, she developed her reverse glass painting technique around the themes of flower and fruit compositions, as well as dolls. "The Plums," dated 1973 on the back, is printed on speckled paper. This piece features a charming composition of plums in a silver-plated metal basket, with brown-spotted leaves on a doily against a dark blue background. The frame, also made by the artist, is painted to resemble marble. (Signature on the reverse glass, lower left.)
