A superb Regency-era chest of drawers from the 18th century, featuring four drawers arranged in three rows, with a curved front and a particularly elegant design.

The front is entirely veneered with precious wood featuring rich grain, arranged in geometric panels and frames, which remarkably highlight the flow of the drawers. The crossbars are accented with dark wood moldings, and the piece as a whole displays a beautiful depth of color, ranging from mahogany brown to ruby red.

The drawers are adorned with magnificent mercury-gilded bronze fittings featuring rocaille motifs of foliage, shells, and scrollwork, including particularly intricate pull handles and lock plates. The lower apron features a substantial gilded bronze ornament with rocaille decoration, harmonizing perfectly with the bronze fittings on the front.

The chest of drawers rests on four slightly curved legs, visually united by a scalloped apron, reflecting the characteristic aesthetic of the Regency period.

It is topped with an exceptional, original Rance marble slab, featuring a reddish-brown background enlivened by bluish-gray and white veins and mottlings. Its corbelle molding elegantly complements the curve of the front panel.

With its superb craftsmanship, rich decoration of gilded bronze, and remarkable Rance marble, this chest of drawers stands as an elegant testament to Parisian furniture from the first half of the 18th century, marking the transition from the forms of the late reign of Louis XIV to the flourishing of the Regency style.
