Round Venetian Directoire-empire-style Coffee Table In Inlaid Cherry Wood, Early 19th Century

An elegant round coffee table from the Veneto region, dating to the early 19th century, between the Directoire period and the First Empire.Crafted primarily from cherry wood, it features a circular top accented along the edge by a refined inlaid band with geometric motifs, executed in woods of different colors—likely walnut, maple, and cherry.The band beneath the top follows the circular outline of the piece and features a drawer on the front, maintaining an extremely understated and elegant design typical of the neoclassical style of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.The coffee table rests on three tall legs with a nearly square cross-section, slightly tapered toward the bottom, connected to the band by shaped elements. The piece retains its original structure and parts. Over time, some small wooden reinforcements have been added internally—visible in the photographs—to strengthen the structure and provide greater stability to the legs. The legs also exhibit slight warping and irregularities due to the natural settling of the wood over the course of more than two centuries. These characteristics are consistent with the piece’s age and do not compromise its stability following consolidation.
