This elegant natsume features one of Japan’s most beloved autumn motifs: wild geese flying gracefully over reeds swaying in the breeze.

Two geese in gold and silver maki-e lacquer glide peacefully across the lid, while delicate reeds adorn the body of the box in gold maki-e lacquer and raden (mother-of-pearl inlay).
Together, they capture the tranquil beauty of Japan’s autumn landscape.

A particularly charming detail appears when the lid is lifted slightly. The reeds continue along the edge hidden by the lid, revealing a landscape that unfolds little by little as the box opens.
