Bronze Guanyin Statuette, Ming Dynasty, 16th–17th Centuries
A bronze statuette with a dark patina dotted with golden accents, depicting the bodhisattva Guanyin, the Chinese manifestation of the Buddhist deity Avalokitesvara, associated with mercy and protection. Depicted seated in dhyanasana (cross-legged meditation posture), she is clad in a long draped robe and wears an ornate tiara. In her left hand, she holds a small bowl intended to hold purifying water, which she sprinkles using the willow branch she holds in her right hand.
Good overall condition.
