2nd Pair Of Second Empire-style Castle Curtains In Silk And Gold Linen, 352 Cm High
A rare and elegant pair of castle curtains dating from the Second Empire period, crafted from a sumptuous blend of silk, linen, and metallic threads, featuring a lavish floral design inspired by the grand 19th-century furnishings.
The luminous gold background is embellished with a woven design of stylized flowers, foliage, and pomegranates in shades of brown, caramel, dusty pink, and garnet red. The quality of the weave, the richness of the patterns, and the subtle shimmer of the metallic threads give this set a remarkable decorative presence.
This pair is part of a set of two identical pairs from a prestigious residence. The other pair is for sale on this website. The curtains are fully lined and retain a few original hanging rings at the top.
They come with their superb original trimmings, including matching tiebacks and tassels. The set is in very good condition. A simple dry-cleaning will fully restore the fabrics’ luster. The only issue worth noting is a tieback holder with a slight weakness that has no major impact.
