Pair Of Bronze Lions Early 19th Century

A pair of gilded and patinated bronze lions attributed to Antoine-
Louis Barye (1795–1875), depicting a lion with a serpent and
a lioness holding her cub.
They rest on a double marble pedestal, one with a rounded top
in white marble, the other rectangular in turquoise blue marble.
They are joined by a “twisted ribbon” in gilded bronze and
each rests on four glide feet.
Given their small size, these two lions were likely produced in his
studio before 1845, a time when his early works
may not have borne the artist’s mark or signature.
