Important Bronze Sculpture—*the Horse Tamer*—signed By Ch. Crozatier—19th Century

Artist: Ch. Crozatier
Important bronze – The Horse Tamer – signed Ch. Crozatier – 19th century

Spectacular bronze sculpture with a brown patina, depicting a young man controlling a rearing horse in a particularly dynamic composition.

The horse, rearing on its hind legs, is depicted in powerful motion, its mane spread wide.

At his side, the young horse tamer, clad in a simple drape tied around his waist, holds the animal by the bridle in a pose full of tension and energy.

The quality of the craftsmanship is remarkable: the figure’s musculature, the horse’s anatomy, the rendering of the mane, the details of the tack, and the modeling of the terrain are rendered with great precision.

The entire piece rests on a naturalistic bronze pedestal, adorned with vegetation.

The pedestal bears the signature “CH. CROZATIER”. Charles Crozatier (1795–1855), a 19th-century French bronze artist and foundryman, is best known for his major cast works and monumental creations.

Beautiful nuanced brown patina, displaying natural variations due to its age.
