Three-piece Fireplace Trim Set
Spectacular three-piece mantelpiece set, consisting of a large clock with a sculpted figure group and two matching candelabra, in the late 19th-century style.
The clock is topped by a large patinated régule group depicting a young couple embracing, walking side by side beneath a drape held aloft by their arms.
The particularly meticulous rendering of the faces, drapery, and poses lends the composition a great deal of movement and elegance.
The group rests on an imposing veined griotte marble base with an architectural form, embellished with gilded bronze ornaments at the ends.
On the front is the circular enameled dial, featuring Arabic numerals, surrounded by a gilded bronze frame.
The clock is accompanied by two large candelabra, richly carved with scrollwork, foliage, volutes, and rocaille motifs.
Their multi-armed design rests on red marble bases matching those of the clock and embellished with gilded bronze.
The ensemble forms a particularly decorative and monumental set, characteristic of the historicist and Neo-Rocaille style of the second half of the 19th century.
