Martin Patent Leather Dance Card Necesssaire Book
A lacquered and vermeil pencil case by Martin.
Trapezoidal in shape, it opens with a hinge, revealing two connected compartments and a small pencil.
It is decorated in shades of gold with cherubs surrounding medallions.
On one side are two flaming hearts on a pedestal, and on the other, a portrait of Queen Marie Antoinette surmounting the inscription “à la plus belle.”
The background is olive green.
The frame is made of vermeil with interlaced filigree.
The lid bears the inscriptions “Souvenir” and “d’Amitié” on its sides.
