18th-century Engraved Silver Pectoral Cross Reliquary
A reliquary in the shape of a medallion or a cross—since you wear it around your neck—is called an “encolpion.” This solid silver pectoral cross, weighing 51 grams, is therefore an “encolpion.” It dates from the 18th century and contains several relics, though these have unfortunately faded over time. The cross is engraved on both sides with the abbreviation I H S for Jesus on one side and the Heart of Mary on the other.
