19th-century Baccarat Table Decanter With Gilded Enamel Decoration
A very elegant conical decanter, beautifully decorated with Napoleon III-style gold enamel featuring garlands and Louis XVI-style pleated ribbon bows. Its band bears the words “Sécretat,” “Bordeaux,” and “liqueur,” which warrants some clarification. This 19th-century crystal carafe was a custom order from the Sécretat distillery, which was located in Bordeaux and specialized in liqueurs and spirits; it was famous in its day for its “Sécretat Bitter” aperitif made from gentian and orange peel.
