Antonin Carlés was the winner of the Grand Prix at the 1889 World’s Fair; a renowned artist, his works are now on display in numerous French museums such as the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Auch, the Museums of Decorative Arts in Dijon, and others.
The foundry, Colin, was established in 1843 at 29 Rue de Sévigné in Paris and was renowned for its high-quality castings; it participated in numerous World’s Fairs, including the one in Chicago in 1893.
