Naïve Art Painting By Irène Darget Bastien, "autumn Lights"

Artist: Irene Darget Bastien
An interesting painting from a Breton estate, dating from the early career of Irène Darget Bastien (1938)*
This small painting is in a naïve style; the colors are bold, and the style reminds me of the paintings of Alain Thomas.
This painting is titled “Autumn Lights.”
A second painting from the same collection is also for sale in my gallery.

*Following Irène Darget-Bastien’s EXHIBITION in Biarritz from April 4 to 22, 2012, art critic Paul Azoulay stated:
It was through the Naïves—whom she treated with great delicacy—that Irène established her national reputation. She does not deny her ties to the Naïves, from whom she derives her sensitive touch and with whom she gave form to her bubbling imagination. However—and this annoys me—driven by her blissful carefree nature, Irène feels a constant need to change, to explore, to reinvent herself. And, as predicted, she has moved from the Naïf style to “Innocence.” Naïvism then took on the guise of another truth. From the exquisitely delicate, deeply feminine, and highly detailed Naïf style—of which she was the undisputed master—she moved on to violently splashed strokes that, according to her, are dreamlike reminiscences; then, to put it briefly, she began working with broad, bold brushstrokes, incorporating forms that suggest a meaning unique to each of us. By thus reintegrating reality into her abstract style, she continues her search for identity through her painting. Irène has mounted numerous exhibitions. Her participation in numerous international exhibitions, where she stood alongside the most illustrious names in painting, has made her a highly regarded artist. Her prolific output, which has attracted the interest of wealthy Americans, justifies her joy in painting—and in painting nothing but explosive joy.
