This work is not geographically specific; it could just as easily be a view of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains as it could be a view of the Mountains of Toledo in Spain.
In the lower right corner, there is a large signature that needs to be identified; the technique is flawless, and the trees and their shadows were executed by a painter with great mastery of gouache who has a keen eye for detail.
In the style of Jacques Majorelle, many talented painters have spent time in Morocco and painted the superb landscapes of this beautiful country.
Painted on thick paper bearing the embossed inscription “Papeterie Montgolfier à St Marcel les Annonay,” which is folded over a hardboard panel but not glued to it.
